NuWorks Slots
Even if you’re familiar with most of the major slot machine providers, there’s a good chance that you’ve never heard of NuWorks. This relatively small casino software company began producing software in late 2011, and has focused primarily on developing slot machines, and has recently begun seeing their software used at a handful of online casinos. With about 24 games available, NuWorks is a promising developer that we expect to become a bigger player in the online casino industry in the years to come.
Types of NuWorks Slot Machines
At the moment, the NuWorks slot machine collection is rather standardized. All of the games are five-reel slots, and most feature at least a handful of bonus features to add variety to their gameplay.
The quality of the games varies from slot to slot. Overall, the graphics are a strong point, though they do tend to be cartoonish in nature. Games are very customizable; players are generally allowed to bet anywhere from $0.02 to $1 per line, and most games have 25 lines to play on. Players also have the option of playing at a number of different speeds, allowing you to either have a casual, relaxed experience, or play as quickly as possible (or pick something in the middle that works best for you).
To explain how NuWorks slots operate, let’s take a closer look at one game in particular. Catch of the Day is a nautical-themed slot machine that is pretty representative of what you can expect to find at NuWorks. As with most of the games here, it features 25 lines and five reels, and can be played for up to $1 a line — making the maximum bet possible per spin $25.
As with most slot machine games, the object is to match symbols from left to right across the active paylines. The maximum payday comes when you hit five boats; this is worth 5,000 times your bet on that line. In addition, there is a Scatter symbol (the fisherman) who can win you money no matter where he appears on the reels, as well as wild fish symbols that can not only substitute for any of the regular symbols, but can sometimes also multiply your winnings. Players also have the chance to win some random jackpots during the course of play, the largest of which is often worth over $2,000.
NuWorks Jackpots
NuWorks also features a number of progressive jackpot games, at least one of which has a particularly impressive prize to give away. The Monster Millions game is quickly becoming the signature game at NuWorks casinos, attracting lots of attention thanks to its $1 million (and climbing) progressive jackpot. Three other machines – African Skies, Greek Goddess and The Duck Ages – all feed into a somewhat smaller jackpot that currently sits at just over $76,000.
Special Features in NuWorks Slot Machines
NuWorks has definitely tried to make their slot machines as unique as possible, and with that in mind, we’d like to shine a spotlight on a couple of the features they offer that you won’t find anywhere else.
Have you ever wanted to be able to control your chance of triggering a jackpot? If so, you may like a feature that’s found in games such as African Skies. Along with your normal wager, you may also spend a set amount per spin to affect your chances of triggering the Jackpot Pyramid bonus game. This game features five jackpots, ranging from the previously mentioned Grand Jackpot (approximately $76,000), down to a Mini Jackpot that is usually valued at around $11 or so. If you wager the minimum of $0.05 on this feature, you’ll trigger the jackpot only once every 300 spins. On the other hand, place $2.50 into this game, and you’ll have a one in six chance of starting the bonus round each time you spin the reels – a great idea when the progressive jackpot gets especially large!
Another feature that we enjoyed was present in the Monster Millions game. The Feature Guarantee was exactly what it sounds like: a guarantee that we would trigger a bonus game within a certain number of spins. The machine will always tell you the maximum number of spins it will take before you will certainly get an instantly triggered special feature, as well as the percentage chance that this feature will be unlocked on the very next spin.
When you first start playing, the guarantee is set to 125 spins, with a 0% chance of an instant trigger. But after each spin, these figures change; for instance, if you go five spins without triggering a bonus, you’ll see the guarantee fall to 120 spins, with a 2.3% chance of a feature. If at any point you want to take a shot at playing a bonus game, just click the play button next to the Feature Guarantee meter; you’ll then have the listed percentage chance of unlocking a bonus game. If you don’t win, no harm done – the meter just resets to 0%. This is a great way of keeping players motivated to keep trying during losing streaks; the longer you play, the better your chances of unlocking a lucrative bonus round!
